Zafar Securities (Pvt.) Ltd (ZSL) was incorporated on 28th June 1999 under the Companies Ordinance 1984.
Its Chief Executive Syed Asim Zafar is a Nuclear Engineer from USA by profession but has a vast experience in the running and successful management of a brokerage house. He started as an agent in 1989 with the membership of Mrs. Tasneem Zafar and in 1992 he acquired this membership in his own name. Way back in 1990 he was the first broker in Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) that modernized the concept of running the daily affairs of the brokerage house. With his heavy exposure in usage of computers in the USA he immediately realized the enormous advantage of building a back-office software. Within a short period of time the software designed by him was being used by most of the houses in LSE, and by the grace of God, 70 brokerage houses are now successfully running their houses on this software.

!! Success Story & Achievements.

Once he acquired his own membership of the exchange he was elected to the Board of Directors of the LSE. in 1994-5 and 1995-6. He served as the Chairman of the Company Affairs Committee for two years. In 1995 it was decided that LSE will do away with “Open out Cry” method of trading and move towards the computerized trading module. Syed Asim Zafar along with a few other directors went to Hong Kong to select software that would serve the purposes of LSE. A company by the name of EFA software based in Canada was selected and it was Syed Asim Zafar who took on the responsibility of guiding the team of EFA software engineers and designers to build, operate and transfer a software trading package catering to the peculiar needs of our stock markets including the Carry Over Trade (COT) and Negotiated Trade which were a very unique phenomena, specifically evolved in our sub-continent. By the Grace of God with in a year and half of signing of the contract LSE successfully achieved its goal. Not only this but Karachi Stock Exchange (G) Ltd (KSE) also purchased the same software from EFA. This could never have been achieved had it not been the endless hard work and dedications of the team involved and this achievement has gone a long way in establishing the capital markets of Pakistan.

In 1999 Syed Asim Zafar was again elected as the BOD of LSE and converted his individual membership into a corporate membership of the LSE. He also realized that the trading software of LSE will not adhere to its future needs therefore it was punitive that LSE build its own software and the IT Department of LSE was given the green signal to start its development. As Vice Chairman of LSE in year 2000 Syed Asim Zafar, successfully guided the IT Department and launched this trading software. This was a great achievement and a major step in the development of LSE. It is with great pride that one can say that it was the vision, understanding and planning Syed Asim Zafar and the dedication of the team involved that contributed to the developments of LSE and later again this software was purchased by KSE. He has been elected as Chairman of the Lahore Stock Exchange (G) Ltd. for the year 2004.
